The Letter of the pretorian prefect Cassiodor to his vice Ambrosius is probably written in 533 AD and deals about the upcoming famine that year because of the abrupt cooling of the climate. At the comment is shown, in which way dendrologists, volcanologists and glaciologists have proven, that the eruption of the Central American volcan Ilopango has triggered the cooling by darkening the sun for a longer lasting time, today known as Late Antique Little Ice Age. The following wars and plagues have let to an implosion and collapse of the antique culture.
The own translation from Latin into German is added by an older one of Thomas Hodgkin, given in English.
